The Bodhi Palace Resort

Breakfast was a highlight. The puri-bhaji was hot and tasty, though the curry was a little spicy, and the chutney with the idlis was five-star. I asked the chef's name, Rohit, and still want to try some of the other dishes. The coffee was hot and strong, just how I like it. Restaurant staff Rupesh and Suryakant were courteous and friendly. I arrived on the evening of the 15th after booking ahead. Reception was polite and got me into a room quickly. The room was quite good, and the hotel sits between Bodhgaya and Gaya town. There’s good parking, open space, a garden, and a swimming pool. Great!

I only booked because I needed somewhere urgently. The receptionist seemed to have no idea what their job involved, and service in general was poor. When I arrived there was no water, the welcome drinks weren’t served, and the phone wasn’t working. The TV remote was useless, and the AC would run for a while, stop, and need restarting. It’s near the airport and OTA Gaya, but there’s nothing else nearby. The charges are far too high for what felt like a one-star property being sold as a four-star resort. I’ve stayed in three-star places for a little less with rooms in much better condition.

We stayed here in early March 2026. The rooms were luxurious, and there was space for children. Breakfast was healthy and delicious. The reception staff were helpful and cooperative, and the rest of the staff were very polite.

The lawn is vast and the swimming pool adds to the appeal of the place. Our rooms were clean, with all the amenities we needed, and room service was prompt. The restaurant food was good quality, though a little pricey. We had a wonderful stay at Bodhi Retreat.
