Shastri Guest House was cheap, ₹850 for three people, and conveniently near the bus stand, temple, eateries, and local market. But the stay was poor. The place looks spooky, there was no warm water, and power kept cutting out with no generator backup. We found 3-4 lizards in the room, bugs everywhere, and a frog in the bathroom. There's no daily room service either. It's only okay for a group of boys or someone who just needs somewhere to sleep and can accept the compromises in comfort and cleanliness.

The room hygiene was pathetic, with stained dirty bedsheets and no clean blankets. There were loads of mosquitoes and bed bugs, and I couldn't sleep at all. Absolutely not worth staying. Don't ever come here.

I hated the experience and checked out the day after checking in. The balcony smelled really bad, it was the worst room, and there was no hot water. If you hate go karna, you must come here. Do not visit this place, shastri ji. Zero stars.

The power kept going out, with no backup system, and there was no warm water. Mosquitoes were everywhere, spit stains were still on the wall, and the pillows and mattress smelled terrible. Shastri ji has been providing this 25 years old service without renovation. My friends and I felt like we'd spent three days in Karnataka Jail. Worst stay ever.

The location is excellent, and the guest house is quiet, charming, and good value. The rooms are spacious and clean. I’ve stayed here several times over the past twenty years. I tried staying at the beach last year, but missed the family’s genuine hospitality at Shastri guest house, so I’m back this year and very happy with my choice.
