Varsha Grand Residence by OYO Rooms

We ended up leaving Guntur for Vijaywada, where we found a decent hotel through Treebo. We'd arrived after 2am on a family road trip, with the rooms booked through Oyo. The hotel staff were asleep on the reception floor and rude when we woke them. There was no parking, and the place was down an extremely narrow lane beside a smelly drain, with three or four similar Oyo hotels nearby. Oyo wouldn't refund or rebook us, saying they'd given me a 152/- coupon on my booking. Their customer care sent me into an endless IVR loop of button presses and unresponsive people. We then tried another so-called flagship Oyo Amaravathi Residency, but there was no building at the map location. It was difficult to reverse back out through the dingy lanes, with hundreds of two-wheelers parked around. It was a real harassment with the kids asleep in the car. Please avoid Oyo hotels, especially in Guntur. We found many that seemed fraudulent and misleading.

The rooms were dirty and full of cockroaches, and the bathroom commode was broken. The bedsheets had holes from cigarette ash. When we asked to change rooms, staff said there were none available. At check-in they first demanded an extra 300 rupees for entry and claimed OYO had agreed to it. I contacted OYO customer care, and they denied the 300 rupees. The staff spoke with their internal team in a local language I couldn't understand. OYO service was very good, but the hotel's poor quality and money-minded staff are hurting OYO's business. Please take action and stop harassing visitors who just need peace and rest.

I felt betrayed by the end of this stay at Varsha Grand in Guntur, and I wouldn't recommend either this hotel or the OYO app. I booked a classic room for three nights through the app, paid in advance, and got a significant first-booking discount. When I arrived late at night for personal reasons, reception told me the online payment wasn't enough and demanded another 700 to let me into the room. I asked why they wanted more when I'd paid according to the OYO booking plan, and suggested they contact OYO Customer Service. The receptionist said he'd called OYO earlier to get the client to stop or pay extra. Then he rudely told me to call and cancel, with no human courtesy. Nobody responded when I contacted the service team. I had an exam the next day and didn't know what to do. I asked why they were demanding money from customers instead of settling the amount with OYO administration to keep the hotel running. He bluntly told me to leave and cancel, saying they wouldn't let me stay for the amount paid through OYO. He also said cancelling wouldn't affect the hotel because many couples came there regularly. I ended up paying extra, despite having already paid under OYO's rules, and was given the worst, less comfortable room. The app listed hot water, cleaning, and air conditioning, but I found none of them. There were worms in the restroom, and they weren't responsible for our belongings in the locked room. The receptionists were cruel and merciless, and left me emotionally damaged. At checkout, the owner asked me to give 5 ratings, which I did.
