The Bistendu Resort

Kuldeep took care of everything so well, and the whole stay felt easy and relaxing. We loved the flavorful meals Jagdish cooked, especially that comforting home-made touch. Our time at Bistendu Resort was truly delightful.

The lawns were beautiful, and the staff kept working hard with the limited resources they had. The owner acknowledged some of the problems and tried to fix what he could, but our family vacation was still very underwhelming. With proper maintenance this place could feel premium, but the charges were far too high for its condition. The pictures are old and edited. We arrived to dirty rooms, broken cupboards, torn couches and blankets, leaking taps, and footmats covered in dust that looked like it had been there for years. Three rooms had broken windows, and one was missing a pane of glass. Some tap water smelled so bad we had to brush our teeth with bottled water. The blankets smelled, and the rooms were dusty, as if they hadn't been cleaned in a while. Food was often tasteless and well below average quality, and service was extremely slow. When we raised the condition of the property, they made us feel like we were asking for luxury. The so-called fully equipped kitchen was empty, without even a spoon or glass for us to use at night.

The lawns were manicured, and the staff ran around trying to make us comfortable with whatever little the owner had given them. The green, peaceful surroundings also meant better air than Delhi. Still, our family’s New Year’s Eve stay was very poor overall. Come if you have low expectations for the food and rooms, and don’t mind spending most of your time outside on the lawn. The pictures don’t show the real state of the rooms, kitchen, or washrooms. We spent our first two hours getting the dirty washrooms cleaned. The drains were blocked, taps leaked, and maintenance was clearly neglected. There were no towels or the “premium toiletries” the manager had mentioned. When towels finally arrived, most were dirty and torn, so we sent them back. The owner bought new ones only after that. Couches were stained and torn in several places. The food was the worst part. It had little taste, and the ingredients seemed low quality. The Hara Bhara Kebabs we ordered were made with potatoes and green food coloring instead of actual green vegetables. The breakfast paranthas were mostly dough, with hardly any filling. When we complained, we were told our demands never ended and were unreasonable.

The open lawn was well kept, and there was a bonfire. That was about all I liked. Everything else about this property was horrible, from the rooms and service to hygiene, cleanliness, and the owner’s concern for our comfort. It was missing major and minor facilities alike. The sofas were torn, room mirrors broken, bathroom fixtures damaged, and drains clogged. Both drinking and bathing water smelled bad. Even a basic item like a bottle opener wasn't available. The food was awful. We saw part of the kitchen and wished we hadn't. It was filthy and dirty. The owner who booked us, Mr.Jeet, showed little concern about our problems and made very little effort to address them. Instead, he said our needs were “never ending.” His father later came by, was very sweet, and tried to make things right. But Mr.Jeet never showed up in person, even though he was at the property. This was the most horrible property I've stayed at. I’d strongly recommend avoiding it, even if it’s the last available option.
