Vishnu Inn

After the experience we had this time, we won’t return to Vishnu Inn. We’d had a wonderful visit two years ago, which is why we came back, but this stay was horrible and humiliating. My elderly mother had booked rooms for two days by phone, months ahead, yet because of a misunderstanding and poor communication from the hotel, they reserved them for only one day and told us to leave after the first night. It caused a lot of stress for us and my elderly parents, who had hoped for a peaceful religious retreat. We were five people, including two elderly citizens. Looking at the floor plan, it was clear the first rooms assigned were the two smallest on the floor, despite larger rooms being available for the same price. We complained, and they changed one room. They also charged us for water that had been complimentary and provided each day on our previous stay. If the bottles now cost extra, they should at least have told us. Room service was practically nonexistent. One room had no bath mat, and repeated requests went nowhere. We nearly fell several times getting out of the bathroom onto the hard marble floor. We had to beg for basic things, including fresh towels, which we didn’t have to do on our last visit. For such an expensive price, the service was unacceptable. We could get much better service elsewhere for half the cost.

The walkable location to the temple and the polite, helpful staff were the good parts. But the rooms were small and smelled bad, and the restaurant service was extremely slow. If you want to order food, do it well ahead. For what they charge, I don’t think the property is worth it.

Being so close to Guruvayoor temple gives the hotel a real advantage, especially for groups like wedding parties. It does get very crowded, even at the best of times, but the staff handle things well enough to avoid hassles and keep people from getting frazzled.

Vishnu Inn arranged both my auditorium wedding and our stay when I got married in Guruvayur last September. Everything was so well organised, and there wasn’t a single complaint. The staff were very friendly and handled every detail perfectly, so our special day was completely stress-free. We’re truly happy with the service and fully satisfied. Vishnu Inn will be our first choice next time we visit Guruvayur.
