Kefi Bakehouse & Stays Tirthan

Autumn colors made the walks around the property especially pretty, and I spent a lot of my time reading, making art, and taking in the nature around me. Since this was my first solo trip, feeling safe and welcome mattered a lot. Nagma was such a warm host and kept checking that I was comfortable. The place is thoughtfully done, the food is made from scratch and was exceptional, and the calm setting felt like a good break from crowded places. I left feeling refreshed and would love to return.

The meals were so good that my wife and I didn't eat outside Kefi once during our stay. That's saying something for two people our families call “chatore,” since we usually make a point of finding good food wherever we go. Ms. Nagma cooks with real care, and the food was delicious, healthy, homely, and easy on the stomach. We came for three nights and added another because neither of us wanted to leave. Kefi is in a peaceful spot with good views and the river softly audible nearby. Our room was spacious, comfortable, cozy, and well looked after. We're grateful to Ms. Nagma for sharing her slice of heaven with us, and hope others get to experience it too. All the photos are from on or around the property.

The food at Kefi was a highlight for me: especially the mushroom creme cheese tartines, carrot cake, and bengan sabzi. Every meal was full of flavor, and it was lovely sharing the table with Nagma. She also organized short sightseeing trips, including a drive to Sharchi and Jamala, about 45 minutes away. Her tour of the area left me in awe of the surrounding beauty. I arrived alone looking for quiet and a connection with nature, and the fairly isolated setting felt peaceful from the start. Mountains surround the property, with a gentle river close by. My bedroom was cozy, thoughtfully furnished, and decorated with fairy lights. I spent ages watching the stars at night. Nagma was attentive and welcoming, and made me feel like a friend rather than just a guest. The bathrooms were well maintained, the parking was ample, and the furnishings were new. Each morning felt like waking up somewhere different, with more to discover. I felt my time and money were well spent at Kefi Bakehouse and Stays. It became one of the most heartfelt and memorable trips of my life, a real sanctuary for the soul.

The food really stood out. We ate every meal here, and as a cook myself I could taste the care Nagma put into balancing all the spices and condiments. It was delicious, though the bill can be a little high and meals take some time to prepare. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner came to around 1000 rupees per person per day. We also had a great time with Simba, the very cute puppy. My wife and I stayed for two nights at the end of our Tirthan trip. Nagma made sure we were comfortable and looked after throughout, and the whole place had a great vibe. The rooms were lovely, clean, cozy, and well furnished. We only saw one spider in our room, with no other insects, which was a relief after encountering lots of mosquitoes and tiny bugs at other places in the valley. There’s a shared living room with books and board games, and the views are stunning. It’s peaceful and away from the over-commercialized, high-traffic areas. We’d come again in snowy season.
