MAYUR HOTEL (Pure Vegetarian Chain) since 1974

I found the stay alright overall, with clean rooms of a satisfactory size and a clean bathroom that was spacious enough to use comfortably. There wasn’t a geyser in the room, though. You have to hand your bucket to the housekeeper so they can fill it with hot water and bring it back. The housekeeping lady on my floor wasn’t friendly at all. The ground staff seemed unsure of their duties, maybe they were new or still training, but it didn’t affect my stay. Despite a few minor inconveniences, it was a good stay.

Getting around was easy thanks to the excellent access to travel vehicles, and the hotel is right beside Guwahati Railway Station. It’s a reasonable choice in the 2.5-3 star category, but there’s a lot that needs work. The building is aging, there were lots of mosquitoes, the water in the cattle was dirty, and even the blankets weren’t clean. We stayed in a spacious villa, but it had very few in-room amenities. The other rooms I saw were very small. Compared with good 4-5 star hotels, the hospitality and amenities felt noticeably limited. Vegetarian dining choices are limited. In-room dining was very slow, often got orders wrong, and staff didn’t even clean the table before clearing away the served dishes. They should improve hospitality and in-room dining, offer more food options, and repair the aging building.

After a good stay here years ago, I came back for a second visit. I won’t stay here again after this experience. The standard room I booked was cramped and cluttered, enough to make a claustrophobic person anxious. I paid to upgrade to a premium room because they said everything else was fully booked, even though other rooms still appeared available on the website. The premium room’s AC didn’t work. I spent almost two hours in unbearable heat while a technician worked on it, with no idea what he was doing. They eventually moved me to another room where the AC ran, but it was still ineffective because the room was too large for the old, undersized unit. The whole stay was horrible and extremely disappointing.

I booked a Double Premium Room through MakeMyTrip for my stay at Mayur Hotel on 27th February 2026, but was given a very small double-bedded room that was nowhere near the premium category. Its condition was poor and didn’t match what was promised. Room No. 287 was missing basic things: towels, a water kettle, and toiletries like a toothbrush, handwash, and shampoo. The bathroom mirror was damaged. After I asked repeatedly, they brought a kettle, but it was so dirty and unhygienic it looked like a toilet mug. I was traveling with my aged mother and my 9-month-old baby, which made the whole situation even more distressing. What should have been a comfortable stay became a nightmare, and the poor upkeep and lack of basic facilities left me terrified and deeply disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to families, especially anyone traveling with elderly relatives or infants. The experience has badly damaged my trust in the property and its service standards.
