The Imperial Inn

The buffet breakfast was a highlight, with an elaborate spread and lots of choices. The hotel is spacious, and the generously sized room had all the modern amenities I needed, so it felt comfortable from the moment I arrived. Most memorable were the staff. Prakash, Anupraya, and Manab were warm and attentive to detail, and their hospitality made the stay special. I had an exceptional time at Cygnet Imperial and would highly recommend it for a comfortable, well-serviced stay.

Please be careful before booking. I stayed there with my mother and sister, and at midnight a man rang the bell, said we'd ordered something, and told us to open the door. Even after we repeatedly answered from behind the closed door, he called our room by telephone. Then someone banged on our door at 2am and again at 3am that same night. We didn't sleep after that. It was the worst experience of my life, and I will never go back. I did not feel this was a safe place for female guests.

Please don't stay here. I found the property on Goibibo and, trusting its star rating, we went there from the airport. We arrived around midnight to find the place dark and locked. The hotel guy didn't answer my call, but picked up when my female partner called and told her not to book online, but to come directly. We already had a bad feeling. While we sat on the ATM staircase, he kept calling her back even after she rejected the calls. He eventually came down and seemed a little drunk to me, though I thought I might be wrong. He asked us to at least look around, and with few options in the dark, we did. On the fourth floor, we heard loud party noise from the third floor, which was connected to it. At reception, he showed us a room. My partner and I went inside, and he stepped out and shut the door from outside, maybe trying to lock us in. I caught the handle and stopped him. He then said he wanted us to check whether we could hear the noise with the door closed. He could have come in with us and closed the door to show the same thing, but he did it the other way. I warn anyone considering this hotel.

The hotel opened on 26th Dec 2020, and its management is very supportive. I believe it could be the best choice for people looking for a hotel in the heart of Guwahati. It is completely run on OYO, and the terrace restaurant is beautiful and well maintained. My ratings: location 10/10; cleanliness, staff behavior, room service, and pricing each 9/10.
