Shankar homestay

Kavitha and Ramu were lovely hosts, happy to chat and full of useful advice about the area. We really enjoyed spending time with them, and I hope to visit again. The location is ideal for exploring nearby, and the garden is a beautiful spot to relax and watch birds. The rooms have everything needed. The first room was a little small for three adults, so they kindly moved us to a larger one with two bathrooms. We had a good stay at Shankar Homestay, and I'd recommend it.

I stayed at shankar homestay in March 2026. The clean rooms and great area would be enough for a five-star review, but what happened after my climb up matanga hill on Holi is why I really wanted to write this. On the way down, my phone fell into a hole we couldn't reach, despite trying hard to get it. We told our hosts, and they sorted it out as if it were nothing. Someone they knew came to help, climbed down into the very dangerous hole, and retrieved my phone. If you're visiting Hampi, this is the place to stay.

A very different kind of stay from a lodge, this is a lovely homestay in the middle of a mango farm. The rooms are well maintained, and the owner, Mrs Kavita, is friendly. They offer check-in and check-out at any time, and the home-cooked breakfast and dinner are delicious, a real help when you're away from home. There were four of us, and they gave us a large, comfortable room.

The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and spotless, and there's hot water in the bathroom. The owners and everyone there are genuinely welcoming, and the food is freshly made and delicious. It's a cosy, home-like stay with lots of greenery and plenty of space. We had a fantastic time.
