The Maharaja Suite was fabulous and made for a memorable stay. Ramesh deserves a special mention for showing us around, including the vintage car collection and the Durbar Hall. This palace-turned-hotel is stunning and very well maintained, with vast grounds, lush lawns, and room to cycle, take long walks, or just relax. The warm, attentive staff provided excellent service. It’s a peaceful place to feel like royalty, away from the noise. It is a 5-star luxury property on the pricier side, and about an hour from Hampi, so it’s not right for anyone planning to tour Hampi from here. The breakfast spread could also be more extensive for the price. Still, it’s a wonderful spot for a luxurious, peaceful getaway, and I highly recommend it.

We had a grand stay at Shivavilas Palace in Sandur. The palace grounds cover 20 acres, with peacocks and many other birds around. Inside, the century-old vintage cars and heritage museum make the place especially welcoming. The large rooms were well kept and clean, the staff polite, and the food delicious. Don’t miss sunset at Narihalla, the 8 th century Parvathi temple, See in September view point, Gandinarasimha swamy temple, Gandi Basaveshwara Swamy Temple, and Harishankara Temple during your stay. Movies including Mufti, Bhairati Ranagal, Power, and many more have been shot in this palace. YouTube channel : I AM NOT FREE

The palace is beautifully maintained and gave us a real royal experience. We loved the car museum, billiards room, table tennis room, and library, and choosing this property felt worth it. The food was the highlight for me. Every speciality we tried was excellent, made with organic ingredients sourced without outsourcing, and consistently fresh and high quality. You can order with confidence, and even if you’re just passing through the area, try the food. The location is convenient and easy to reach, and Google Maps is accurate. Service was top-notch too, with proactive, resourceful, very helpful staff who made guest comfort a priority. The rooms may not suit everyone: they have clear heritage character, but rugs, cushions, and some furniture could use an update. A driver/servant room would also be appreciated. A subtle modern refresh could make the rooms more comfortable while keeping the palace’s history. Memorable stay, with wonderful food, service, and ambience. Highly recommended, and this is not a paid review.

A once-in-a-lifetime stay in a Maharaja’s palace, close to Hampi’s extraordinary remains. The friendly, helpful staff were a great team without exception. The fixtures, fittings, and furniture stay true to the palace’s last days of occupation by the Maharaja and his family, with their portraits and photographs by Bahirji Gorpade on the walls. Bowls of flower petals greet you at the entrance, and the courtyard pond has fish and two terrapins. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced.

After a hectic trip to hampi, this was a relaxing stop before heading home. The drive from hampi takes about an hour and was enjoyable. The property is beautiful, and its heritage is tied to the Ghorpade family’s iron ore and manganese mining business. We stayed in the Maharaja suite, which felt grand and was kept in good shape, with antique furniture. Ramesh and Nitesh were courteous, and a big thank you to Mr. Sameer for his hospitality and for taking us to the handicraft emporium for labani art items. The durbar hall is worth visiting, though photography isn’t allowed. We also got a glimpse of the car museum, where the old classics are still maintained with their charm intact. The kids loved the pool, but the restaurant could use a high chair with a tray or restraint, and a well-equipped play area would be a great addition to the large grounds. The food didn’t meet the standard I’d expect from a luxury property, and the drinks menu is limited.
