Nubra Valley has a striking stretch of white sand among the mountains, and it’s the only place in India where you can find double-humped camels. Definitely a place to visit once in your life.

The food is good for such a remote location, but it’s strictly vegetarian and they don’t serve eggs. You have to walk to the kitchen for tea or coffee. Finding the place when entering Hunder in Nubra Valley can be difficult because there aren’t many signs to guide you.

The desert tucked inside the mountains was a surprise, with lovely scenery and great people. I also had a ride on a double-humped camel, and the animal was good.

The little river is lovely, the sand dunes are amazing, and the surrounding mountains are mesmerizing. The scenery is fantastic, but I didn’t enjoy the camel ride. The camels looked very dirty, and many didn’t seem healthy. Some were old, some were babies, and there were pregnant animals too, which felt inhuman. The caretakers didn’t seem to care about customers, wouldn’t listen, and ignored complaints.
