I was disappointed by the lack of follow-up after a serious food issue. I found a piece of metal scrubber in my food and almost swallowed it. I told the waiter and manager right away; they apologized, but it’s a very unexpected thing to happen at a reputed hotel. I stayed calm and didn’t make a scene. The following day, after checkout, they refused my request to use a room for just 10 minutes to freshen up and change before my late-night train. Given what had happened, I expected some basic courtesy. Sanitary items were also missing from the room and weren’t provided even after I asked housekeeping. There were good parts to the stay: check-in was smooth, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food tasted good. Still, the service negligence and lack of empathy after these incidents were disappointing. That’s why I’m giving 3 stars.

The room was already unacceptable, and the response made the stay worse. I’d asked staff before arriving to clean thoroughly because I was recovering from an illness, but found dust all over the fan and headboard, sticky fingerprints on the lamp bases, cockroaches in the bathroom, and stained sheets. It looked as if nobody had cleaned the room for weeks. After I complained several times, a worker came in with a large pesticide sprayer on his back and started spraying while I was there, despite my health concerns. He said he hadn’t pressed the button, but the strong chemical smell filled the room. Being made to breathe those fumes felt unsafe. I asked for another or upgraded room and was told there was nothing available, which I find hard to believe for such a large property. They wanted me to wait while they cleaned the same contaminated room, so I left immediately and paid for another property 20 minutes away. I booked through Hotels.com and have filed a complaint. The hotel still refuses a refund, telling me to come back so they can “clean the room.” That’s dismissive and insulting. I’m asking for a full refund for the whole stay. The room was unsanitary, unsafe, and uninhabitable. This place falls below motel standards.
