Sai was super polite and helpful, and the location is convenient. I liked the clean room and washroom, the open kitchen, and the calm sitting area in the old building. As a solo traveller, though, I didn’t get much of a backpacker hostel feeling. The new building felt more like a coliving flat, which might suit some people, but not those constantly travelling from place to place. Events like other hostels run could help create more of that atmosphere. The city itself doesn’t seem to draw many travellers or explorers, which isn’t the hostel’s fault.

The location was one of the best I found in Hyderabad, in a safe, affluent neighbourhood. I loved the place and already want to come back. Everyone living at Shepherd stories made me feel welcome, almost like I was at home. Good people, clean rooms, a kitchen for cooking for friends, and a shared space to tell stories or listen to others.

It was my first visit to Hyderabad, and I was worried about the language barrier and managing four days there. The staff and people were so kind and approachable, and they did a lot to make things easy. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well maintained, beyond what I expected. The facilities were outstanding, and you could see the care and professionalism in the details. They set a high standard for hospitality, patient care, and the environment. I’d wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality stay in Hyderabad.

The dorm is hygienic and well kept, which was a plus. But if you’re travelling, this place may not suit you. There are lots of restrictions and the hostel has a strange closing curfew. I felt like I was staying in a girls' hostel.
