The birthday surprise was such a lovely touch: the staff arranged a beautiful cake and a thoughtful message in my room. Soni and Panake at the front desk and Mitu in the restaurant deserve a special mention, though everyone we met, from housekeeping to the gardeners, was a delight. The gratuity box at reception also made tipping the whole staff easy, which we appreciated as British travellers who don't always think of tipping automatically. We were upgraded to a stunning suite at check-in, with elegant decor and thoughtful touches. It came stocked with bottled water, fresh biscuits, fruit, and a tasty dried Indian snack mix. The hotel feels peaceful and intimate amid the city bustle, like a well-furnished boutique property, with beautiful block-print patterns throughout. The team were warm, generous, and attentive from the start. We ate some of the best food of our trip to India here. At the restaurant, try the Laal Maas. My sister even thought it beat the version at Rambagh Palace. Breakfast was a highlight too: instead of a buffet, you choose from a daily menu of juices, cereals, dosas, eggs, pancakes, and waffles, with extra baked goods and treats brought out to sample. The on-site bakery makes fresh bread, biscuits, and cakes, all delicious. We liked how proud the team was of its food and its commitment to authentic Indian dining. The hotel also makes an effort to be environmentally friendly. The toiletries are biodegradable, the slippers use natural fibres, and they try to reduce waste without giving up comfort. You'd miss out if you didn't stay here. A memorable experience from start to finish.
