1st Gate Home - Fusion

That rooftop restaurant is hard to forget. The fort looks magical from up there, especially in the evening, and the atmosphere and service made us want to linger. The hotel is also close to the main attractions, so getting around was easy. We stayed during the week of December 25th, and the team made us feel cared for from the moment we arrived. They were smiling, checking in, and ready to help with the little things. It felt warm and personal, never stiff or overly formal. The stay was comfortable and classy, and I’d gladly come back to 1st Gate Home-Fusion, Jaisalmer.

I travel a lot, and I haven’t often seen a hotel work this hard to make guests feel at home. The service was better than at places I’ve stayed that cost four times as much. They even found me a power adapter after I realized I’d forgotten mine, and complimentary snacks and sodas were a nice extra. The property is well kept, right near the fort gate, and the rooftop has a great view. Staying here in Jaisalmer is an easy choice.

The rooftop terrace was one of our favorite parts, with a wonderful view of the fort and, in our opinion, one of Jaisalmer’s best restaurants. Everyone at the hotel and restaurant was so helpful. After checkout they let us leave our bags while we took a nearby day trip, and even packed us lunch for the journey back. We had a fantastic stay at First Gate. The courtyard has beautiful, authentic decor, and our spacious room came with a striking blue bathroom and a really comfortable bed. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you!

The worn linens were the one thing that brought the room rating down for me. Tablecloths, mats, bolster covers, curtains, especially in the shared spaces, feel like they need replacing. A bit of maintenance would make a big difference. There’s a lot to like here. The location just outside the fort keeps you close to things while somehow avoiding the noise and bustle. The style feels grand but homey, traditional with a modern touch, and our room had extra space, including a sitting room and terrace, which was great with kids. The small number of rooms also makes the quaint public areas feel almost private. We had plenty of chai and cappuccinos, always served with a smile, any time of day. The service and food were great, from local dishes to rooftop pizzas. It’s rated three stars, but feels worth more.
