We stayed at Gajanand for a few days in August 2014, before and after our camel safari. Kamal is a lovely owner, thoughtful, helpful, and kind. His little shop sells water and basic supplies at very good prices. He understands Western culture and never pressures you to book safaris or anything else. If you ask, he'll give you good advice. He even let us stay until our bus departure without charging us extra. The guest house was absolutely clean, comfortable, well located, and among the best we've found at a very reasonable price. We definitely recommend Gajanand guest house for a stay in Jaisalmer! French couple travelling around the world...
Gajanand guest house is right in the center of Jaisalmer, literally beside the fort. The rooms were excellent for our stay and such good value that my friend, who was paying over three times as much elsewhere, moved here for a few nights. Kamal was a lovely host and made things easy, from arranging a rickshaw pickup to setting us up with a great day out on a camel safari. He even personally tracked down funnels and pipes for our rickshaw adventure. Thanks, Kamal, for an awesome time. I'd really recommend staying here.
I've been back in Jaisalmer for several years' worth of visits, and I keep staying at Gajanand Guest House. On this return, it still felt like coming home: Kamal welcomed me like family, and he and Bhavna were as thoughtful and kind as ever. Kamal arranged pickups, local tours, and camel safaris, and shared his knowledge of local history. Bhavna's home cooking was incredibly delicious. Her flavours, texture, and aroma were out of this world, and I'd put her cooking up against many high-end restaurant chefs. It's still the best budget stay in town, with spotless, comfortable, spacious rooms and unbeatable value. Thank you, Kamal and Bhavna 🥰. On my earlier visits, I found this charming little family-run guest house centrally located, an easy walk from the market, fort, lake, and other amenities. The rooms were clean and spacious, with en suite bathrooms, hot water, and good security, all at a budget price. Kamal Singh, the owner, knows a lot about what to see and do around Jaisalmer. He can arrange transport and tours, suggest restaurants and shops, and does his best to make your stay comfortable. I haven't met a more honest, caring, or helpful man. I highly recommend Gajanand Guest House to travellers of any age or budget, and hope to return again and again.
The owner was one of the best we've ever met. When our train arrived at 6am, he let us into our room so we could shower and relax. After our camel safari, he also let us use a room to freshen up. The safari booked through the homestay was a really great experience, and I'd recommend it.
