The overnight desert safari was fantastic, and getting back to the hostel afterwards felt relaxing and comfortable. I first booked three days and two nights at Wonbin Safari Hostel Jaisalmer, then added another night. Booking the safari through the hotel got me the best price compared with other offers. The rooftop café looks out toward the fort and is a nice place to hang out; the food was not bad and the atmosphere was great. Everyone, from the hostel staff to the café team, was friendly, cheerful, and glad to help. I'd highly recommend staying here in Jaisalmer.

The owner was always helpful whenever we ran into a problem, and the staff were kind and supportive. Our room was spacious, the service was good, and the location was excellent. Water supply could have been better, but we had a pleasant, warm stay at Wonbin Safari.

The desert was beautiful, and riding camels was a new experience for us. Our guide Ali spoke English very well, was friendly, and treated us like guests. As he led the camels, he cooked tasty meals over a fire at each stop. We spent the evenings at two different dunes with chai and sunset views, then slept under the stars, which was the main reason we chose this safari. There was still some light pollution, but the night sky was lovely, and in the morning the sun rose like a ball over the horizon. We didn't stay at the hostel. One hard thing to see was rubbish scattered across the desert, even on the beautiful dunes. The safari felt non-touristy, and we came back with sandy shoes, lots of new impressions, and plenty of lovely photos. We'd suggest tipping the guides for their hard work.

The sunset was beautiful, the camel ride was fun, and Ali, our desert guide, was genuinely kind and friendly. He also cooked us a really good chicken curry. Those were the bright spots in an experience that otherwise felt disappointing and badly organized. Electricity kept cutting out, the AC sometimes failed at night, and on our last afternoon there was no water, so we couldn't shower before leaving for our bus. We paid 2000 rupees per person for what was described as “full included.” We were told we'd leave at 2 PM and return around 11 AM the next day, but we didn't set off until about 4 PM, then got back around 9 AM after waiting nearly an hour in the desert for pickup. Aside from a short camel ride and sleeping in the desert, there was little to do. We had expected more interaction or activities, perhaps jeep rides or a visit to a local village. This isn't really about the cost: we saw other safari offers around the city at similar prices, sometimes only a little more, that included much more. It's hard to understand why this one amounted to so little beyond the ride and overnight stay. Breakfast was poor too, just instant noodles, plain toast, and tiny jam packets. After the good dinner, it felt like no effort had gone into it. When we shared feedback politely, the hostel staff seemed dismissive. One staff member also pressed us to post a Google review in front of him before leaving, which made the reviews seem questionable. I can't prove anything, but many recent Google reviews use exactly the same line, like “good value for money, beautiful panorama,” with five stars. You can look at their photos too. The hostel was almost empty while we were there, which made us wonder how genuine some reviews are. It felt like they might be posting them themselves or asking friends or guests to copy and paste the same praise, which seems unfair and disappointing. I wouldn't really recommend this for solo travelers, especially women traveling alone. It didn't feel dangerous, but being surrounded by men the whole time could make some people uncomfortable. The guide and scenery kept it from being a terrible experience, but it fell well short of what we expected.

The desert safari arranged by the hostel was a highlight, with great guides, good organization, and beautiful sunset views. The dorms and rooms were clean, comfortable, and well cared for, with roomy beds and good lockers. Staff were excellent and helpful, and discounts made the stay easy on a budget. It also had a friendly, social feel that made it easy to meet other travelers. The stay was great.
