Shubham was a wonderful host. He suggested authentic shops and restaurants, made sure we were comfortable, and even kindly dropped us down from the fort. Staying at Hotel Suraj felt like stepping through 500 years of history in a beautiful heritage haveli. The atmosphere and authenticity are unmatched, and I'd highly recommend it if you want a heritage stay instead of posh, flashy amenities. Sonar Kela (Jaisalmer Fort) is only a five-minute walk away, and actually living inside the fort was mesmerising. Waking up surrounded by its history and atmosphere was something special.

The only small drawback was the soundproofing, which is understandable in such an old building. It didn't bother me, though light sleepers may want to know. I spent three nights here and loved every moment. After the crowds leave, walking the ancient lanes of the fort at night feels surreal. The guesthouse is right inside Jaisalmer Fort, in a beautifully preserved heritage house with hundreds of years of history. It feels like staying in a living monument, and the place is impeccably clean and well maintained. The host and his father were incredibly polite and gave exceptional service. The host's mother made a simple but authentically delicious breakfast that I highly recommend. Hot water was reliable, but bring your own toiletries, including toothbrush and toothpaste, as those aren't provided. One evening, I had to borrow something while working late and accidentally woke the host's father. I felt terrible and kept apologizing, but he reassured me: "It’s okay. You are here on vacation—please go at your own pace and don't worry about us. We are the ones working; we are here whenever you need anything." That was such a heartwarming gesture, and it made me feel at home.

We had a lovely cup of tea on the beautiful balcony, looking out at the temples, and the room itself was beautiful too. The staff looked after us so well, arranging transport, bringing water, and packing an early breakfast to go. We also got Shubham to ourselves for the whole evening. His walking tour was super interesting, and he showed us some hidden gems. He's a great host. Our stay was amazing, thank you so much for everything. Can't wait to come back.

We were lucky to visit during Holi, and I was speechless at how special it made the trip. This old, historic haveli is run by a wonderful family who have managed it for more than 30 years, and they made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Shubham was so kind and helpful, sharing fascinating details about the fort and city. His passion and honesty really come through. For an authentic stay inside the fort in Jaisalmer, this is definitely the place. Probably one of the best places we've stayed there!

The walking tour was full of insight, and I could choose when to go. The hosts made the day amazing. Staying here feels like being in a living museum. The courteous family has run the hotel for 18 generations of Hawaii) hotel purveyors. Rooms are clean and spacious, though they feel dated because of their genuine presentation. There's no fort view, and if you're in Jaisalmer for more than a night, I'd recommend staying here and staying outside the fort. But if you need to choose between inside and outside the fort, pick this place.
