From the jharokha in my room, I could see Jaisalmer City on one side and the Jain temples on the other, which I believe are 500-700 years old. We sat in the sun there for hours. It felt like a real heritage stay, with a superb view, probably one of the best inside the fort, if not the best. The rooftop restaurant offered the same extraordinary view. The room was clean, and the food was fantastic. We tried Rajasthani thali and dal bati. Service takes a little time, understandably, because the preparation is extensive. Be patient and you’ll get fresh, authentic local food with a lovely view. One travel tip: since the stay is inside the fort, autos and taxis can’t reach it, and only two-wheelers are allowed. Expect to walk a bit with luggage from the fort entrance. That applies to any stay inside the fort. You can ask the guest house staff for help. They offered to help us on the way back, but we declined because we were traveling light.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and cool, with an amazing view. Mud mirror is right next to the Jain temple and close to the important spots inside the fort. It’s also under 1 km from patwon ki haveli. We booked two nights in a mud mirror with sunrise view after two not-so-great stays in Jaipur and Jodhpur. The guest house is inside the fort, so you have to walk 400 meters from the drop zone. When we arrived, two staff members collected our bags and carried them safely to the room. At lunch we had soft chapatis and paneer butter masala, and the staff were so welcoming. Lakshman, Jaswanth, and Ramesh were all lovely. The rooftop restaurant was great too. I’d recommend trying the Rajasthani thali, aalo, and pyaaz ka paratha. The rooms were great, but what I really wanted was to be treated like a guest, and I finally found that in Jaisalmer. No scams, misleading marketing, or pressure to buy anything. Just genuine hospitality from the staff running the place. Highly recommend it to tourists.

Mud Mirror is a lovely little hotel in an incredible spot, right by the fort wall and directly across from the Jain temples. It made it easy to get to the main sights early. The fort is lit all night, though, so bring a sleep mask if your room faces the town from the walls. The bright lights shine into the rooms. The rooms were very comfortable, the host was friendly and helpful, and all the staff were great. We especially appreciated Ramesh taking our luggage down to the fort entrance. Cars and tuk-tuks can’t enter the fort except from 8pm until 8am. The hotel’s rooftop restaurant served a fantastic breakfast both mornings. Best place to stay in Jaisalmer!

The fort looked wonderful from both our room window and the terrace restaurant, and the Jain temple is right outside. We loved being inside the living fort, especially seeing it in the early morning and late evening when there were no tourists around. The staff were warm and the service was great, and we really enjoyed the food. The sheets were worn, though, and could do with replacing.

I felt at home here thanks to Lala and his helpful, friendly staff. The rooms are comfortable, the rooftop has lovely views, and the food was delicious. It's a beautiful little heritage guesthouse inside Jaisalmer Fort, with views that are hard to beat. Highly recommend it.
