Bed and Breakfast Clock Tower Haveli

Sardar market, next to the clock tower, is the most happening place in Jodhpur. It’s right in the middle of everything, in what I’d call the heart of the city.

From the top of Mehrangarh Fort, the blue painted houses spread across Jodhpur make a striking sight. The blue is traditionally associated with the Brahmin community, and gives the city, known as the “Blue City,” its distinctive feel. You can also see the blue houses from high viewpoints such as Umaid Bhawan Palace. There’s plenty to explore beyond the architecture. Sardar Market has Rajasthani textiles, handicrafts, and spices, while the city’s culture draws on Rajasthani traditions, with festivals, folk music, and dance through the year. October to March is the best time to visit for pleasant weather. A day or two should be enough to see the markets, streets, and forts. Jodhpur blends history, culture, and unusual architecture into a destination worth visiting in Rajasthan.

The room was clean, and the position right on the market Square was brilliant. It’s a good place to watch everything going on, though it was noisy all night. Unfortunately, the place had its own rat family. India is dirty, but this was the first time I’d ever seen rats running around a hotel. The roof “garden restaurant” had broken furniture and no food. Maybe the rats ate it!

The owner was very helpful with suggestions for things to do around town, and made us breakfast one morning for free. The rooms are simple, but the beds are comfortable and they have all the amenities you need. Our room and the terrace both looked out toward the grand fort. As the name suggests, The Clock Tower Haveli is right by the clock tower, in a very central location. I personally couldn’t find any faults with the place!
