Flagship Ranibagh Palace

The service was awful. Once they had our money, they showed no respect for customers. The pool looked like a drain, and water came out of the bathroom taps from different directions. Our room felt like a haunted villa, and even a public restroom would have been better. There was no electricity for 24 hours. A complete waste of money. Don't go, even if someone offers you the hotel for free.

The palace itself is beautiful, but the service made for a terrible stay. We arrived around 10 at night to find the gate shut and nobody at reception. The receptionist was asleep in his room and drunk; he eventually opened the gate, then behaved very badly and didn't know how to treat customers. There’s no lift, and only a few rooms seem to be in working order. Our bedsheets were dirty. When we asked for clean ones, we were told they weren't available, or could be changed the next morning. There’s no in-room service, which caused us a lot of problems when we got up early.

The hotel has the basics for a comfortable night's sleep, including a geyser for hot water and air conditioning. But in some rooms those didn't work, and neither did the TV. The room cleaning wasn't very good, and the management seemed poor.

It’s a very basic hotel with few facilities, set quite far from the city. It seems more suited to groups or people looking to party, and could work for hanging out with friends. I wouldn't recommend it for a family, so think it over before planning a family getaway here.
