Nikshay Heritage Villa

This is a house turned into a guest house, and it needs plenty of improvement. Don’t rely on the room photos when booking, since you may be given a different room from the one pictured. The food is mostly the same home-style fare, with poor quality and little variety. People often go out to try something different, and you don’t get that here. They should also be more professional. It was just okay overall.

They put us in a basement room, and the price felt far too high for what was provided. The people seemed money minded: they charged 50 rupees for a cup of tea, then compared that price to a three star hotel when we questioned it. The homestay is in a remote area with no restaurants or transport nearby. It was the worst experience, and I don’t recommend it.

Breakfast was so meager that my first thought was, is this really breakfast? Services are very ordinary, despite charges like a 3 star hotel. The place is very far away and there’s no transport. There’s no intercom either, so if you need anything, you have to go upstairs. Facilities were the worst I’ve experienced.

The family was very accommodating, especially when our child got sick. They prepared special food and recommended a good child specialist. Breakfast was delicious, vegetarian and Jain, with fruit as well. We booked through Air Bnb, and the family lives in the same bungalow, which has both pros and cons. It’s a spacious, clean, nicely decorated place in a residential area with similar bungalows, next to a Jain temple and near the famous Umaid Bhavan Palace. Every room had a TV, aircon, fans, and a bathroom. The beds were comfortable, but the tables, chairs, and closet were old and worn. It’s a little pricey.
