Since it was our first visit to Jodhpur, clear instructions at each step made things easy for us. Jyotsna was professional and polite, and she took care to make our stay comfortable. The property was well maintained, too. I’d gladly recommend it to my corporate colleagues and to others.

The staff at Guest House Otara, Old Residency Road, Jodhpur were courteous and genuinely keen to answer my questions. Exploring the property was a pleasure, and the place felt peaceful, culturally rich, and a little luxurious. I loved how the old and modern architecture came together. The rooms kept their antique character, with high ceilings, vintage furnishings, and intricate details, while still having the modern comforts I needed. Everything was impeccably clean and looked after. It was a meaningful stay, with warm hospitality throughout. I’d recommend it to travelers who value history, culture, and good service.

I’m posting this long after our stay. The rooms were luxurious and the food was good, but the manager’s behavior made the experience unpleasant. We stayed for two days, not one, as the property claimed in its reply. They can check the MMT reservation voucher before stating the duration. I travel widely and have stayed in hotels and homestays around the world. My Airbnb ratings reflect how I treat people, staff, and properties with respect. I rarely respond to comments like this, but false details need correcting. We were traveling with an infant and asked to have food brought to our room, knowing the policy. The request was denied, and we accepted that. But afterward the manager gossiped with another guest and called us “Rulebreakers,” even though we had followed the rules. We confronted her, but she denied it and wouldn’t apologize. About an hour later, that other guest was served dessert in their room. We hadn’t known that selected food, like desserts, could be served in rooms, since the MMT policies didn’t mention it. The manager can deny what happened, but the comment was uncalled for. We checked out within the stated time. A staff member barged into our room without knocking and started cleaning for the next guest. Later the manager called, in a rude tone, asking us to return the key without checking with her staff first. They had misplaced it internally and then retrieved it. She still never apologized. Her reply asks where the need to inform her arose, but we were already within checkout time. She also mentioned expletives. I beg your pardon, when did that happen? If we said we disliked getting a rude call about the key, that doesn’t make it right to portray our complaint as expletives. We’re educated people, so please don’t demean us with that account. As guests, we deserved basic respect. If you can’t accept feedback, that’s your choice, but please don’t post wrong facts publicly. This kind of experience has been a real one-off in my 12 years of traveling, and it still surprises me. We won’t consider staying here again when we visit Jodhpur. Have a good day.

Otara has just six rooms, set inside a bungalow, and it’s a quiet little homestay. The rooms are spacious and nice, and the service was good. Since they cook to order, you need to let them know about food in advance. A couple of small things could be better. The bathroom ventilation wasn’t good, so an exhaust fan would help. The kitchen opens after 7 am, and kettles in the rooms would be useful for early risers. I’d recommend staying here.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the menu was limited, though the cook was willing to make what you wanted. Right on Residency road, the location is wonderful. There’s a small garden, lounge, and dining room, and the large, well-appointed rooms have attached bathrooms. Otara feels like home after a day of work or sightseeing. Definitely a great place to stay.
