The Blue House, Oldest Guest House

We could see the fort from bed as soon as we woke up, so we kept the curtains open. The owners gave us a very warm welcome and were lovely people, and the turtle on the balcony was awesome. The room was clean, but I wasn't sure the blanket was washed after every stay. We’d brought a sheet and used it underneath. The place had a cosy, authentic feel, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The rooms were noisy and poorly maintained, with no temperature control. The old beds made loud noises even when we moved slightly. There’s no lift, and customer service was almost absent, with no attention given to complaints. The owners felt intrusive and very greedy. They took bookings for their more expensive nearby hotel, Jhankaar, then sent us to this homestay lodge, claiming a last-minute emergency, while selling those rooms to foreigners at even higher rates. I found the place completely unreliable. Indians should especially avoid this property, as they seem to prioritize foreign guests for the good rooms. I feel for overseas tourists who may not know the basic hospitality standards in India. They come with low expectations and are charged 5-6 times more for such bad rooms. We won’t return even if they paid us to stay here. I can’t believe we paid for this house. It was a complete waste of our hard-earned money.

The family who run the "Blue house Guesthouse" were friendly and professional, and their warm welcome made the stay special. My room was clean and nicely decorated, with a stunning view of the fort of Jodhpur. The location in the old city was perfect, close to Jodhpur’s main monuments. I had a wonderful time in this gorgeous place and will definitely come back. Highly recommend it.

The rooftop deck has stunning views of the massive Fort, and the food is heavenly. Add in the warmth of the family and it feels like a true 5-star house, not a hotel. Immerse yourself in India.
