Hotel Kalash

The deluxe 3X room has one of the most beautiful views, overlooking the Mela Ground and Tibetan church, and the guy at reception was kind and generous. The hotel is conveniently on Rishi Rd, the town’s main road, with an ATM just across the street. I liked the atmosphere and community, though the shops along the main road are tourist traps. Go further out and you’ll find hidden places where locals eat, and their food is excellent. The hotel food was only okay: the momos were delightful, but the idlis were cold and hard. Room service was a problem because nobody would show up. Even so, I enjoyed my stay with my family and would like to visit this town again.

Beware of this scmar. I checked in at 6 o'clock in the evening on 14/04/2025. When I asked Receptionist NAWSHAD AHMED about the room tariff, he said 800Rs per day. I immediately completed my documents and paid 500rs in cash in advance. There were 2 adults and 1kid with us, and we stayed 2 day's. Today, 16/04/2015, at 11 o'clock when checking out, I asked for the bill. He told me to pay 3600 for 2days and forcefully insisted I pay that amount. He said I was wrong and hadn't listened properly. I was in a hurry and couldn't do anything, so I simply paid what he asked and left.

They charged us too much for rooms that were unclean and smelled a bit. The bathroom was also dirty and somewhat smelly, and the toilet flushes were broken. You could see sewage pipes from the upper floor running through the bathroom. There was no soap or other stuff supplied.

The geyser and television didn’t work in my room, and there were no ceiling fans in the non-ac rooms. Service was much too slow, so don’t expect breakfast before 10.30-11am. If you’ve already paid for breakfast and planned an early start, you’re stuck. The rates also seem expensive for the quality. Overall, I felt they still have a lot of work to do.
