Lama Dhim Hotel

The view from my window was quite good, and the staff were pleasant, but the room was in poor shape and uncomfortable. Bedsheets were spotty, towels were wet, and there was dirt and hair all over. Housekeeping clearly wasn’t doing its job properly or being monitored. There was no room service either. When I asked for a towel or quilt cover, I was told everything was at the laundry, and never got a satisfactory answer. Mosquitoes in the room made it hard to relax. The restaurant was good and its service okay, though customers were smoking and drinking there, so it seemed to be a bar-cum-restaurant. The room condition and lack of service made my stay disappointing despite the good view and pleasant staff. Better housekeeping and room service could improve the experience.

We held a class reunion here recently and were happy with the food and service. For 8 people, the seating was cozy and let us relax together. Prices were fair, and the food compared well with many other eateries in Kalimpong. I’d recommend the restaurant for lunch or dinner with family or a group. A happy customer.

The food was good, but the curry and dal portions were very small for the price. What made dinner terrible was that people were allowed to smoke freely inside the restaurant, and neither the other diners nor the hotel workers seemed bothered about anyone else’s comfort. How can smoking be allowed in a restaurant?
