Kalimpong Park Hotel

The staff at Sterling Park Hotel were especially welcoming and eager to help, and I found the hotel good value for what it offers. It has a garden, a children’s play area, free Wi-Fi, room service, laundry, dry cleaning and car hire. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, with TVs, tea and coffee makers and ironing facilities; some look out over the Himalayas. Kokomendo serves Indian, Continental, Chinese, Nepalese and Tibetan food, and there’s also a bar and lounge. Meals were tasty and service was attentive. The hotel is in a quiet spot about a 10-minute walk from Kalimpong market, handy for exploring local food and culture. Nearby sights include Buddha Pada (0.4 km), Pine View Nursery (1.0 km), Zang Dhok Palri Phodang (2.6 km), Lovers Meet View Point (4.9 km) and Rabindra Bhavan (12.9 km). It’s a peaceful place to stay in the hills, and I’d give it 4.5/5.

The rooms were rather small and had no views, which was disappointing. The resort has a classic look, though, and the staff were helpful and polite. The restaurant gets crowded, and service can be slow.

The quiet setting and kind staff made this a memorable family holiday at Sterling Park Kalimpong. Our room was spacious, clean and well looked after, and housekeeping kept it tidy. Room service was quick and attentive, too. When we arrived after our journey, the front office team welcomed us with kadha and refreshing drinks, and check-in was easy. We had a truly delightful stay and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Kalimpong.
