The Grand Kalimpong

You wake to birdsong here, with trees all around and a calm, spiritual feeling. As evening turns to night, the mountain view is breathtaking and gives a feeling of enlightenment. The family who run Team Grand Kolingpong know how to make guests feel welcome, through their words, their actions, and the delicious organic food they prepare. They genuinely care about making every hour memorable. We came with our mother, who’s been so well cared for that she plans to return every year. We still have almost a week left of our 10-day stay, and the joy is carrying on.

At The Grand in Kalimpong, mornings began with birdsong, and a gentle breeze through the leaves made the place feel like a retreat from everyday chaos. The rooms were warm, cozy, and comfortable, and the Sharma family and staff made us feel at home with their care and attention. It was a beautiful stay, and we’d love to come back.

The property is peaceful, with a small, well-kept garden where you can sit, eat, and relax. There’s ample parking, the Wi-Fi worked well, and the TV was functional. The staff, three sweet college-going girls, were polite, helpful, and always available. Our room, bathroom, bedsheets, and the rest of the upkeep were super clean. We stayed two nights, about 3 km from the main market down a narrow road, so you need a car, cab, or bike. We ate breakfast and dinner there both days. The food was really good and fairly priced. Definitely try the puri sabzi at breakfast; the veg fried rice and gobi Manchurian were so good we ordered them again the next day. I’d gladly visit again for a peaceful stay, workation, or break from the chaos.

The Grand Kalimpong is a relaxing place to stay, with clean, spacious rooms, balconies, good food, and a peaceful atmosphere. The owners are very nice, and it truly felt like home, with lovely people and great service. It’s genuinely pet friendly: pets aren’t just allowed, they’re welcomed. My Zoey had a great time here.
