The Hotel Canoe

The location is great and the room is spacious, but the bathroom is small. They provide RO water only, with no packaged bottles, and there are no TV channels subscribed. The breakfast buffet has limited choices and doesn’t match what I’d expect from a four- or five-star hotel. To me, this is more like a three-star hotel than the advertised four-star.

The location is a real plus, near the Kannur railway station with shops and markets all around. We stayed one night with family. The hotel is quite large, and the rooms were clean and a decent size. The in-house restaurant was good, breakfast had some very tasty dishes, and the room-service food was tasty too, with generous portions for the price. Service was the one drawback. There weren’t enough staff to help guests, and no one was available to assist with our luggage when we arrived or checked out. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay. I wouldn’t call it a four-star hotel, but it’s a top-level three-star.

The dinner buffet was awesome, and I loved all the food I tried here. Service was excellent too. They checked what we needed before we even asked, and when our toddler needed customised food at an odd hour, they prepared it without delay. Parking can be an issue since it’s shared public pay-and-use parking, so sometimes there’s no space for a four-wheeler and you have to wait. Still, a great place for food and a stay, and I’d highly recommend it. Hope the breakfast buffet is just as delicious.

Right in the city centre, this is a very good hotel. The staff are friendly and courteous, there’s an in-house restaurant and room service, and the breakfast buffet had a good variety. Highly recommended.
