Thappa Garden

The staff could have been more available. With so few people around, it sometimes took a while to get help. The grounds, pool, and gardens are nicely maintained, and the food was decent with a home-cooked feel. We also liked the clean, roomy accommodations, especially their traditional Chettinad look and carefully made furniture. Thappa Gardens is surrounded by greenery, so it felt quiet and restful, a welcome break from the city. It made for a comfortable short getaway, and a little more staff presence would make it even better.

We came for a place to sleep and left with lovely memories. The rooms were clean and spacious, and suited us and our infant well. The 24-hour checkout let us enjoy a slow, happy morning, while the polite staff made us feel at home. The kids loved the playground, especially the trampoline, and the pool was lovely too. We had arrived at Thappa Gardens at the last minute after Karaikudi was fully booked, but it turned out to be a great choice. The approach road was dark and narrow, though the property itself felt bright and welcoming. The hot, fresh food had delicious, authentic Chettinad flavors. Highly recommended for a peaceful family getaway.

My family enjoyed our holiday, but as someone who travels around the country often, I noticed a few things that need attention. Housekeeping wasn't up to the mark, and the rooms may need some renovation since Thappa Resort is 15 years old. There were lizards around, with droppings inside the rooms, and the room service utensils looked faded or stained. The location and rooms were nice.

A great spot to unwind with the family. The food and ambience were good, and the service was satisfactory.
