Nature Stay Kasauli Bed & Breakfast

The greenery all around was lovely, and we could even watch the sunrise from the property. There are three stay options: regular hotel rooms, cottages, and villas. We stayed one night with my wife and had a great time. Our room was clean and comfortable, with wooden interiors, and the service was very good. The food was amazing too. I would recommend a stay here.

The views from the room and rooftop terrace are lovely, and the location is nice, but our experience was dragged down by poor service, inconsistent food, and very limited parking. I’m not planning to return to Nature Stay. The road from Garkhal is narrow and full of potholes. At 6:45 in the morning, calls to reception and room service went unanswered. The reception should be staffed around the clock, but it wasn’t, and room service only started taking calls after 8 am. If you want fresh tea made the traditional way at 6:30, you won’t get it. You’re left with dip-dip tea and skimmed milk sachets in the room. I only had four, two tea and two milk, while other hotel rooms usually have around ten or more of each. Avoid the Annexe room if stairs are a problem. It’s on the third floor, has a tiny balcony, and there’s no lift. Older guests or anyone with a bad knee, hip, or other health issues may struggle to get up there. The food was hit and miss. For lunch on June 16, I ordered dal makhni and shahi paneer. The paneer was completely sweet, with no hint of salt. The dal was watery and tasted strange, with no spices and very little salt. Both seemed to have been made by an inexperienced cook. Dinner was much better, though, and the paneer butter masala was delicious. There’s a sitting area with chairs and a table on the terrace adjoining the room, but nobody came to serve me while I waited there for around 15-20 minutes. I had to call the owner/manager in Delhi to get attention. He gave me the receptionist's number, and I called to ask for someone to take my order. During a power breakdown, the intercom won’t work either, so you have to go downstairs to the ground floor to reach reception or room service. Get the reception guy's mobile number when you check in.

Dochi is a small village, and this is a lovely, simple homestay for a mountain break. With two bedrooms, bathrooms, a basic kitchen, and a living area, it suits a small family or a group of friends. It’s pet-friendly too, which is great. For the price, though, the service could be much better. Otherwise, a nice place to chill out.

The food is nicely prepared and it’s a nice hotel in a good location. Service needs work, though. There are only two staff members handling room service, the restaurant, and baggage, so it takes quite a while to get served. They should also provide mineral water in the rooms.
