Hotel Aashirwad

Breakfast was the one good part of the stay. I had a Super Deluxe Room, which was spacious, but the bathroom was smaller than in the normal rooms. It was wet when we arrived, including the toilet seat, smelled bad, had no exhaust fan, and had just a small window. There was no hot water for bathing. The bedsheet was dirty; when we asked for a change, staff said it was new, and we had to insist before they brought fresh ones. The blanket smelled bad too. Hospitality was very poor. We returned from the yatra around 4-5am, and the staff boy was asleep. It felt like his sleep mattered more than the guests. The room charges may be cheap, but the stay and hospitality were cheap too. The hotel isn't within walking distance of the station, and the auto to get there will overcharge you.

The bathrooms were dirty and smelly, the taps weren't working properly, and there was a water shortage. The bedsheets were filthy and torn, and the switchboards were open or broken. Even when the power went out, they wouldn't start the generator because the owner didn't allow it. Don't rely on the room photos. When I questioned them, they said, “THIS IS 2 STAR HOTEL HOW CAN WE PROVIDE ALL THESE THINGS.” I wouldn't stay here with kids; you'd be putting yourself in trouble.

Our travel plans were thrown off when Hotel Ashirwad Katra refused to let us stay, even though we'd made a confirmed booking through Cleartrip. Staff gave little communication or accountability, which made an already frustrating situation worse. That disregard for a reservation felt completely unacceptable. The room felt homely, and I was pretty impressed with the washroom and linen, which matter a lot to me. Staff were helpful, and the food was good and very reasonably priced, not like hotels that charge double for everything. The property is right by the entrance to Jammu, and Banganga is 10-15mins away. The hotel can arrange a vehicle there for just 100 rupees.
