Chandani Desert Resort and Camp

We arrived from busy Jaisalmer at a peaceful camp and were welcomed with several cups of chai. Our clean tent had the amenities we needed and a really comfortable bed with fresh, cozy bedding. The afternoon and sunset trip into the desert was a highlight. The camel ride and drivers were great, and our host for the day was kind and fun. We loved the quiet desert, the music and dancing, and the delicious traditional thali. Our host kept our plates full at dinner and breakfast, with tea available throughout. In less than 20 hours, it became a wonderful, smooth experience we’ll remember for life. The hospitality felt heartfelt, and it was good value. I can’t fault it, and we highly recommend it.

We spent a day there in February and came away with a lifetime memory. Khuri’s desert was calm and pleasant, and the stay at Chandni desert camp was amazing. Gajendra Singh Bhati and the team looked after us so well. The tent had limited everyday facilities, but felt luxurious for the desert. We also enjoyed the camel safari, with our camel Kaalu, the jeep safari, and a cultural program with snacks. Rajasthani dinner and the yummy breakfast rounded out a wonderful stay. Thanks to the team for arranging it.

Waking up early to see the sunrise, I spotted a Chinkara (Indian gazelle) right on the camp grounds. Sleeping under the stars in the wilderness was the best part, and that sighting made it unforgettable. Chandni Desert Camp gave us the kind of desert experience we hoped for. The staff were friendly and attentive, the tents comfortable, and the evening cultural program was fun. The food was just fine, while the rest more than made up for it. They also arranged camel riding and a sand dunes safari, both well run and worth doing.

The stay at Chandani Resort was comfortable, with a clean washroom and hot water. Mr. Agar Singh honored my offline booking even during the festival rush, which I appreciated. The whole family and staff were hospitable, the food was good and reasonably priced compared with other resorts, and Mr. Agar Singh’s son, Mr. Jagender, was respectful and helpful when we needed something. The jeep safari arrangements were a letdown. It was first offered at 2500 rupees for two trips, then charged at 3000 because of high demand. My concern wasn’t the price, but that they didn’t stick to the commitment. The evening jeep overheated, cutting the ride short. We were promised compensation on the morning safari, but that didn’t happen either. Both safaris together lasted barely 30 minutes, including pickup and the dune ride. A fan was promised but never provided, and the cultural program could be better. It was still a good, affordable stay overall. Better management at busy times and more reliable safaris would improve the experience.
