Abad Pepper Route, Fort Cochin

The registration process was easy and welcoming. Tucked into a bylane, the building looks like a residential complex, and it’s a quiet, lovely place for a break away from crowds. Rooms are excellent, spacious, well equipped, and decently maintained, so the stay was comfortable. Staff are few, but clean regularly. There’s limited vehicle parking, which is a real boon for tourists driving themselves, since many other properties don’t have parking. The dining area is on the ground floor, and the upper floors are accessible by lift.

The hotel's location is the only positive. It didn't feel like good value for money. Ventilation in the rooms is poor, and the AC remote doesn't work, so there's no way to adjust the temperature. You're stuck with whatever setting is there, and the bad ventilation may give some people a headache. Breakfast was offered as an optional paid part of the booking. I paid roughly 350 rs, but all they served was idly and omelette, which was disappointing. From my experience at several tourist places, breakfast usually has more choices, like poori/chapathi, vada, idly, dosa, and cut fruits. What they served wasn't even half of what I've listed. With rooms and food like this, customers won't have a pleasant experience to recommend the hotel or return to it.

After two weeks on a G Adventures tour in North India, this is the cleanest room we've stayed in so far. The place is small and kind of cute, with the hottest water and strongest pressure we've had on the trip, plus really cold AC. The mattress was very firm and hard for me to sleep on, and the pillow could've been a little thicker. The bad feedback seems undeserved. It's decent, so don't fret.

A peaceful place to stay in Kochi, with clean rooms and friendly staff. The atmosphere feels homely, and the food and setting have a traditional Kerala feel. Highly recommended.
