The couple were amazing and quick to respond, and the location was great. They arranged transfers to and from the peaceful home stay, and we could also buy tickets to local culture shows, which I highly recommend. Thank you!

The curtains were my favorite part, especially the patterns the light threw across the beautifully painted walls. The room was lovely for the price, and the WiFi was the best I came across in India. The hosts were good to us, shared tour and activity ideas without pressuring us, and even let us leave our bags after checkout. They also sell bottled water, which was handy.

The location made it easy to get to many Fort Kochi sights and activities. At Chackalakkal home stay, the room was tidy and clean, the internet was fast, and both the AC and hot shower worked well. The hosts were great, really accommodating.

We came back for a second visit after staying a few days in december 2015, then again for more days in january 2016. They even kept our room for us although we couldn't give an exact return date, and let us store winter clothes there while we traveled around India. We'd happily return again. The homestay is in a quiet, pleasant part of Fort Kochi, with the important places within walking distance. The warm couple and their 2 children live under the same roof, which we found a lovely experience. Booking was easy. Our A/C room had a big bed and fresh bedding, and both it and the bathroom were remarkably clean. Most things looked new or well cared for, and the A/C worked without any trouble. Breakfast was tasty Kerala-style food, and they could make it spicy or mild. Western-style breakfast was available too. They also arranged tickets for cultural events such as Kathakali dance-performances, including great seats, and helped with trips to places like the Backwaters and taxis or rickshaws at standard fares. They were ready to help with plenty of other things as well. Chilled mineral-water was sold in-house. There was no TV in the room, though the cables suggested there had been one, and we would have enjoyed watching indian TV. It wasn't a deal-breaker for us.

For a short stay in fort Kochi, this was a great choice. The people were lovely and welcoming, and the facilities were pretty good for a homestay.
