Eighth Bastion- Cgh Earth

We had the largest room, the ground-floor accessible room, with a private sheltered garden terrace. It was huge, around 20 feet square, and came with a very large wet room. The room was clean and spacious, and the hotel is right in the middle of Fort Kochi, about two minutes from the beach and five from the Chinese fishing nets. It’s a small private heritage hotel with a lovely garden and pool. There’s service all day, and the restaurant has a beautiful menu and serves great food.

The people here deserve more than five stars. The colonial style has been preserved beautifully, and the place is so clean and lovely that we kept stopping to take photos. The pool was clean and inviting too. Breakfast had lots of choices, mostly Western and continental with some Kerala food. We drank tea constantly. At the front desk and door, we were always greeted with a smile when coming or going. The location is spot on, within a five-minute walk of everything. Highly recommended.

This well-kept heritage Dutch property sits on a quiet lane, just a short walk from the beach, with most attractions easy to reach on foot. You can rent an electric cycle for a morning ride, though summer heat can get intense. The food and service were excellent. One ground-floor room has a very large bathroom.

We had the Bastion Room, with a private terrace facing the street, and it worked well for the three of us. The Christmas market and street noise carried on late, though that's not the hotel's fault. A courtyard-facing room might be a better choice. The staff were very sweet and polite, and kindly helped arrange a birthday cake and delivery. The location is outstanding, with the beach, cafes, Vasco Da Gama square and Fort Kochi sights all within walking distance.
