The location is good, and the price is relatively cheap. I stayed one night in the sixteen person dorm. The ladders to the top bunks are thoughtfully designed, and the mattress was decent. Blankets didn't seem to be provided. I arrived late and didn't ask, and quite a few people were sleeping without one too. The people who did have cover were using their own sleeping bags or towels. I took the fitted sheet from the empty bunk next to me to use as a blanket. The pillows weren't very comfortable. It was an alright option for a last-minute night.

We found 'Hostel by the Sea' a peaceful place to stay, and had a fantastic experience. The rooms were spotless and neat, while the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Service was exceptional. Highly recommend it.

We booked for three days, but they moved us to an entirely different hotel on the very first day. The toilets weren't clean either, and the staff member we dealt with was very rude. It was a very disappointing stay, and I wouldn't recommend this place.

The location is perfect, and if you get a cheap price, I'd recommend staying. My positive rating is only for the location and low cost. This is a government-initiated hostel, and Kathakali shows are held on the ground floor. One person managed the whole property, so cleanliness was terrible. The AC was on from 8PM to 8AM.

The 14-bed dorm wasn't mentioned on the booking site. It was in poor condition, with lots of mosquitos and a filthy smell. The caretaker was often rude and unpleasant in the way he spoke to guests. Even with a 14-person dorm hall, they only allow AC from 8 PM to 8 AM. The washrooms weren't in good condition either.
