The hotel's location was quite good, but my stay at Hotel Forte Castle was a steady lesson in keeping expectations low. Cold water was all I encountered, morning and night, as if hot water were optional. The shower didn't work properly either, so I ended up using the provided bucket to wash. There was what looked like black mould on the bedroom walls, and a smell that was there from the moment I entered and stayed the whole visit. Mosquitoes buzzed close to me at night, plentiful and seemingly unbothered by my presence. Based on my own stay, expect cold water, a faulty shower, bucket bathing, mould-like walls, a lingering smell, and mosquitoes. Unforgettable, just not in the way you'd hope.

The rooms and cleaning are basic, and the central location comes with no street lights, rubbish around, and motorcycles and people gathering at all hours. We couldn't sleep either of the two nights because drunken guests were so loud. The hotel said they were locals and there was nothing they could do. Terrible.

The only good parts were the breakfast and the location. Everything else felt dirty: my room, the curtains, and the bathroom, while the bed was covered in hair. The ladies' toilet downstairs was disgusting too. I wouldn't recommend it.

The bed was horribly uncomfortable, and termites seemed to be eating it. There were piles of wood dust under all the furniture, marks on the curtains, and the bathroom was awful, with hair everywhere, mould, dirt, and cockroaches. Thank goodness breakfast was good and the location was good too, otherwise I couldn't give it any stars. I was so glad to leave.

The room was good, but the maintenance was poor: the curtains hadn't been washed, the shower was bad, the water supply unreliable, and cleanliness questionable. I won't return or recommend it. Avoid. Mr Patrick and the service staff are wonderful people, though, and seem very constrained by the hotel's poor maintenance.
