My wife and I were in Fort Kochi for two days in the last week of December, and this was one of the worst stays of our Kerala trip. The room had red ants, a faulty TV, weak AC, and a broken bathroom handle. There were no water bottles, either. At ₹3,000, I expected basic upkeep and quality, and didn’t feel we got them. The welcome was cold. Mr. Ivan and his son Leon seemed rude and inflexible, and we were left standing for five minutes at check-in. It didn’t feel like a homestay, with no warmth or sense of welcome. This was also the first place where we were asked for both the rent and a security deposit, which felt unnecessary and made it seem they didn’t trust guests. The scooty rental was another problem. Their own two-wheelers are rented from the ground floor for ₹800-₹900, though the scooters were in poor shape and, to me, not worth even ₹400. Since our train was at night on our last day, we asked to extend by two hours. They wouldn’t listen and seemed focused on charging more. The whole attitude felt driven by money instead of the guest experience. I wouldn’t recommend the homestay or the scooter rentals. We rented two motorcycles from I-one in Kochi. The owner, Ivan, said they were in perfect condition and that he’d be available if anything went wrong, but our experience was very different. On the ride to Munnar, a serious clutch problem showed up almost immediately. We’d raised concerns during the test ride, but were told the bikes were new and fine. In Munnar, local garages refused to work on bikes from him. After a lot of effort, one mechanic finally inspected one and found the clutch plates completely worn out and needing replacement. Ivan first refused responsibility, then, after repeated arguments, agreed not to charge us for the repair. Later, we had an accident with a bus and went by ambulance to hospital, leaving the motorcycles somewhere safe. While we were dealing with medical care, Ivan asked us to return to the crash site ourselves and find a truck for the bikes instead of offering basic help or arranging transport. The attitude was disrespectful, with no accountability and what felt like attempts to get more money from us, even at the expense of our health and safety. If you want a peaceful motorcycle trip, stay far away from this place.

The rental process was hassle-free, and the vehicles were mostly new and well maintained. We took a RE Hunter 350 for a two-day trip to munnar. Uncle let us leave our extra luggage with him so we could travel lighter. Ivan uncle, his wife, and son were all hospitable, and the rooms were clean and well cared for. Room rates were ₹1500 for AC and ₹1200 for non-AC. For the bike, they charged ₹1500 per day with a refundable ₹3000 security deposit, allowing 150km a day and charging ₹7 per extra km. Hourly booking was ₹150 per hour, plus ₹7 per km. They keep your Driving License as collateral. They also rent bikes and scooties.

It felt like home here, with a cozy, clean space and warm hosts who were friendly and ready to help. The location made it easy to explore the area. I was very comfortable during my stay and would gladly return. Recommend.

There was no water for a shower, and when I asked about hot water, they said only God knows when it would come. The owner showed no empathy and wouldn’t listen to the customer. A horrible experience. Avoid this place if you want a comfortable, friendly stay.
