Old Lighthouse Bristow Hotel

Restaurant service has been very disappointing compared with my earlier visits. Prices are high next to the famous beer and wine restaurant. Even steam rice costs Rs 250. We were seven, and the waiters were reluctant to bring rice; we had to ask twice before they did. They didn't provide a table mat for the extra tables joined to ours, even after we asked. The staff need basic training in customer service. Food was average too: the king fish curry at Rs 800 was ordinary, and the Rs. 500 squid ularthiyathu portion was small. Update (reply to owner): As I said in my original post, we politely asked twice for the rice, and only then was it served. There were no spoons for the rice bowl or any of the dishes, which is why we asked for the rice to be served. The mat still wasn't placed on the additional tables after we requested it. Our group was polite and didn't take the matter further with staff or management. We wanted a fine dining experience and didn't want to disturb the atmosphere for other diners. We shared this so the management would know how the staff are doing and could make the needed corrections.

The Old Bristow Lighthouse is a beautiful historic spot near Fort Kochi beach, with a sea view and a touch of colonial charm. It's peaceful, calm, and clean, with waves and a cool breeze. Away from the crowds, it's lovely for watching the sunset, taking photos, or simply sitting quietly as ships pass by. A good place for anyone who enjoys heritage sites and a quiet moment by the sea.

We came for dinner with my family while visiting Fort Kochi, but didn't stay there. The seashore setting has a good view, and the ambience is nice and well maintained. The food was all below average, though, and service was a complete flop. We waited over 20 minutes for someone to serve us, and more than 25 minutes for hot water. We gave the staff our feedback as we were leaving.

This hotel has the character, culture, and charm of the area, rather than feeling generic. My family and I felt safe throughout our stay, and the place seemed well managed. Everyone, from reception to security, was warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. They made us comfortable from the morning greetings to our departure.
