Forte Kochi

Our last day in Kerala was made special by this stay, and I’m glad we chose it. The hotel is ideally placed, with much of Fort Kochi within walking distance. At 7 am we joined the complimentary one-hour walking tour, and the guide’s knowledge gave us wonderful insights. Just around the corner is the residence where Vasco de Gama stayed in Kochi and St. Francis Church, where he was first buried; his remains are now in Lisbon, Portugal. The striking exterior colour draws plenty of photo shoots and is very Instagrammable. There’s a nice pool with Hi-Tea, and the complimentary breakfast was the most extensive spread I’ve seen in my travels, as well as full of flavour. The rooms are large, the inner courtyard has lots of character, and the bed was very comfortable with suitably firm pillows. Shalu, Chacko at the front desk, and all the staff were fantastic: prompt, polite, friendly, and professional. I told them when we left that they’d done everything so well I couldn’t think of one thing to improve. Definitely a destination next time I’m in Kochi.

Princess Street is right outside, which makes this hotel's location hard to beat. The place has an old-world feel and the rooms are a good size. We enjoyed the delicious food, and the staff were polite and helpful. Even if you don't stay here, it's worth coming in for a meal.

The building is beautiful, the food was really nice, and the staff were helpful. We also had our laundry done, then got charged about 45 euros for a single bag. That cost left us feeling taken advantage of and really spoiled the stay.

The staff were fantastic, and the place felt peaceful from the moment we arrived. Its colonial architecture and courtyard pool make a lovely setting, right in the heart of Fort Kochi and just steps from the Chinese Nets. There's even an ancient Mikwah spring near the pool. A luxurious, memorable stay.
