Sapphire Club Cherai Beach Villa

There are several food options within walking distance, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and quick to assist. The rooms and washrooms were clean, with air conditioning and hot water available 24 hours a day. From a balcony room, you get an amazing sea view. Kattadi sandy beach is about 500m away on foot, and it’s less crowded than cherai beach, with water you can safely get into. Across the road, the seashore is a nice place to sit and relax.

We stayed for three days in Jan-26. It’s a calm, quiet area with hardly any crowds. The hotel has 7-8 rooms, and the two best ones are the “Deluxe Double Room with Sea View” on the 1st floor. There’s a large shared balcony for several rooms, with a great sea view and fishing boats passing throughout the day. There’s also a small dry garbage dump outside the property, but it’s tolerable. The sea is just across the road, though the shore there is stony rather than sandy. We sat there to watch the sunset. Sandy Cherai beach is about 1.5 km away. There’s no garden, but a 10-minute stroll through the little lanes behind the hotel takes you to the backwaters, which have a good view too. The restaurant and kitchen on the 2nd floor weren’t operating. Breakfast is available only if booked ahead, even one day in advance. We got meals, including breakfast, from Lilliput Multi Cuisine restaurant, 1.6 km away near Cherai Beach, and ate at various local restaurants about 400 meters from the hotel. For some shopping we went to Cherai Town, 5-6 Km away, and had good south Indian food at Vrindavan (Veg) Restaurant. Rooms are a little small but clean and comfortable. They could use a bit more maintenance. Wi-Fi and a tea/coffee maker were provided. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Alwin, the so-called manager, who arranged an Auto-rickshaw for getting around locally. The hotel doesn’t arrange scooter or cycle rentals for guests. It’s a good spot for a relaxing stay.

We liked the location, surroundings, and property at Sapphire Club Cherai Beach Villa, and would recommend it to friends. We’re already planning to return for another quiet, relaxing, fulfilling holiday. The property sits on the main road parallel to the beach and was easy to find with Google Maps. Check-in was smooth. Our clean, well-maintained room was comfortable, with hot water available around the clock, though we barely needed it in mid-January. The first-floor sea-facing room opened onto a large shared balcony with a table and chairs, a lovely place to sit and enjoy the view. Staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast didn’t have much variety, but there was enough and it was satisfying. Several nearby restaurants suit different budgets. Parking was easy too: space for 2-3 cars inside, plus open space outside. Cherai Beach and Munambam Beach are both close. They were calm on weekdays and got crowded on weekends. One highlight was watching the sunset at Munambam Beach, with the Chinese fishing nets in the background. You can also enjoy the sunset from almost anywhere along the road running parallel to Cherai Beach. Kochi is reachable from here by a shorter ferry route or by road.

The only snag was a slight wait before we could get our room. Otherwise, it was a really pleasant stay at this sea shore place. Service was excellent, the staff stayed polite, friendly, and helpful, and the rooms were clean and well maintained with good hygiene. I’d definitely recommend it.
