Vishnupriya Regency by OYO Rooms

We were driving to pune and needed to stop overnight in Kolhapur, so I booked two rooms through make my trip for a little over 1600. We reached around 10 pm after I’d called the owner, Mr. Sharma, to let him know. The location near the cbs bustop, with a park beside the hotel, deserves five stars. Most parking was taken by then, but there was just enough room for our innova. The rooms were good value for what we paid. I heard someone trying to bargain for 1k, while the counter price is 1.5k per room. Mr. Sharma wasn’t at reception when we arrived. A man with a French beard, whom I’ll call Mr. X, checked us in. I asked for hot water because I wanted to bathe, but he flatly said there was none at night and gave the hours as 7 am to 10 am. I went back after settling in and met Mr. Sharma, who said it was available from 5 am to 10 am and arranged a bucket for me. At 6:30 in the morning, Mr. X again said there was no hot water. I told him I needed to speak with Mr. Sharma, and suddenly it was available. I’d take two stars off for Mr. X, but Mr. Sharma was very courteous, so I’m giving the property four stars.

At 1.2k, this is an okay budget deal if they don’t promise too much. We booked through MMT, but several advertised things weren’t provided or working: the TV and bath hot water were missing, the AC didn’t work properly, the bathroom tap was faulty, and the room lock didn’t work. I can’t really recommend the hotel.

I had the worst experience with this hotel and found it completely unsatisfactory. The receptionist or owner was very rude, and the surroundings felt bad, with bad guys around. It’s not at all recommendable for families. They also refused check-in even though I had booked online and prepaid. Disgusting. I wish Google let people give zero stars. I’d suggest paying a little more for a hotel with professional hospitality.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the stay was good in a peaceful location. There were a couple of small hassles: hot water came from the wrong tap, which was confusing, and the TV remote was tricky because the set-top box sensor had slipped a little inside. It wasn’t a big problem. Sorry this review is late.
