Apan Guest House by OYO Rooms

I had to cancel at 11 pm because staying there was too difficult. The room was dirty and had insects, and they had sprayed room freshener before I checked in. The TV didn't work, and using the AC meant paying extra even though my OYO booking included it. The manager wasn't available, and the nice pictures on OYO and other booking apps don't reflect what I found.

The owner called after the free cancellation period and asked me to cancel my three-night booking, saying OYO didn't pay the property. He suggested I book directly or pay extra during the stay. I explained that canceling then would forfeit my payment, and I had doctor's appointments on March 22 and 23, so I had no real option but to keep the booking. This was for one classic room at Super OYO Flagship Apan Guest House in Kolkata, starting March 21, 2024. I checked in that evening. The owner then asked for an extra Rs.1000.00. After a lot of arguing, they gave me the key and said I could pay at checkout. The room was supposed to have AC, TV, and a geyser, but none of them worked during our three nights. We had to get hot water from another room. The elevator was always switched off, so each time I needed it I had to call them. At checkout, I ended up paying Rs.500.00 extra. As a patient, I had a terrible experience with OYO and will think carefully before choosing it again.

The room was in a poor state, with dirty sheets and pillow covers and stains on the blanket cover. They ignored our complaint. We were traveling with a tired, crying child, but the father and son kept insisting they would only give us a room if we paid them, and they wanted 1200/- plus another 500/- for AC. We felt forced to take it because the guest house is tucked away, while the 730/- we had already paid OYO in advance still hasn't been refunded. Our OYO booking included AC, TV, Wi-Fi, and other listed facilities. At check-in around 12:30 pm, they said they could cancel an online booking whenever they wanted and denied that we'd paid. They rudely told us to pay them or find another hotel. OYO customer care kept putting us on hold, and we stood there for over an hour. It was a nightmare and a complete waste of money and peace. Families and anyone hoping for a peaceful trip, please don't choose this hotel or fall for this OYO process.

We couldn't sleep because of the mosquitoes. The room was awful, with dirty sheets and pillow covers and stains on the blanket cover. After we complained, they brought only a blanket cover, saying the other things had been changed before we arrived. We spread it over the part of the bed that looked somewhat clean and didn't use the pillow or blanket. The price shown was 1200/-, but I wanted to pay no more than 300/-. We'd chosen the room at the OYO price of 608/- and were told they wouldn't provide AC at that rate. Just before 10 pm, they said they could cancel our booking, but because it was late they'd let us stay without AC. We agreed. It turned into a nightmare.
