My room was clean, well kept, and roomy enough for two, with the basic amenities in place. The staff were welcoming and courteous, and the complimentary breakfast was a plus, though there’s no restaurant or kitchen on site. It’s reachable from the railway station; the hotel is down a lane beside the Food Court, opposite Gate 1 of Medical College. I had a satisfactory stay and would consider it again.

Staff were responsive, and they let me leave my luggage before check-in or after checkout. The rooms are basic, though, and noise from College street comes through because the soundproofing isn’t great. At night they shut the main door and didn’t answer calls, which was inconvenient. It was an okay stay, nothing special.

We arrived in kolkata with two senior citizens and six bags, only to find out the booking had been cancelled because we couldn’t be reached while travelling. Please avoid this hotel.

The staff were friendly and my room was clean, in a great heritage hotel right in the city centre. The street gets a bit noisy, though that’s to be expected. I was confused when they switched off my AC, saying I’d have to pay extra from then on. They seem unclear about their prices, and I didn’t really understand what was going on.

That private balcony overlooking the street was a real treat. The room itself was small, but pretty, functional, and very clean. I also found the neighborhood absolutely fantastic for a tourist. Dear Hotel Cecil, thanks for the warm welcome, all your help, and the tourist advice.
