OYO 38844 Hotel Orchid Plaza

The toiletries in my room amounted to soap and shampoo. There was no dental, shaving, or grooming kit, and no loofa. I also ordered two special orchid biryani but received only one. When I asked, he said it was double, and I felt I’d been charged unfairly. I won’t choose to stay here next time. Management should look into this and hire honest staff. I also need my bill, since he charged the food amount with GST.

The rooms weren’t up to standard, and the hotel is in a dirty area where I saw fish and meat being sold on the road. There weren’t proper vegetarian restaurants nearby. Kolkata itself felt very dirty to me, apart from a few good areas. We admired Kali mandir, victoria hall, new street, and science city, but the other areas were dirty. Cab drivers everywhere seemed to take advantage, asking at least 200 for just 1 km. Auto rickshaws aren’t allowed, and Ola or Uber drivers ask for extra money or cancel. If you come to kolkatta, don’t let cab drivers show you rooms, or they may take hotel commissions and leave you paying double.

We paid Rs 2100 for the room and it felt worth the price. The rooms were neat and clean, and the staff were cooperative and well behaved, especially Sabber bhai. It’s a budget-friendly hotel in a good location, about a 15 min walk from park street main road. A pleasant stay.

Faizan, the manager, was extremely helpful and cooperative, and the staff were very good. The stay was pleasant and we had no problems. The property was decent, though it could use a little renovation. It was an amazing stay apart from that.
