OYO 88202 Starlight Guest House

The location is ideal and close to acropolis mall. The room is basic, with AC and a clean bathroom, but it has a foul smell by default. The AC and exhaust help take care of it. On checkout, the receptionist took my phone from my hand, saying he needed details to complete checkout. I think he was trying to rebook a room at his hotel for my checkout date, probably so he could charge a cancellation fee. Luckily, I spotted what he was doing. Earlier, one of the reception guys tried to charge me extra. I resolved that with oyo, and we stayed for two days. If you can handle the fraud parts, the room is okay to stay in.

The room we were given wasn’t clean, and the hotel had run out of water. We booked through Oyo and paid when we made the booking, but when my husband and I arrived on the night of 22nd June, the manager refused to give us a room, saying we still owed money. We waited about an hour at reception while Oyo customer care sorted it out with help from a representative, and then we were able to check in. When we checked out, the manager asked my husband to open the Oyo app. He then grabbed the phone forcefully when my husband asked what to do. We were stunned to find he’d tried to make another booking from it. My husband took the phone back and we left. On the way, we saw he had also given his Oyo a 5-star rating on our behalf, and had tried to book a room at his hotel to recover the illegal amount he’d failed to get from us the day before. It was a horrible, disgusting experience. This hotel should be banned. Please don’t book here.

Absolutely a scammer. The owner told me he wouldn’t give me a room at the Oyo rate and wanted double instead, 600 for the Oyo booking versus 1200 from the owner. Don’t waste your time going there. There’s no two-wheeler parking either.

After a long discussion with ola, they found us another hotel. We first visited Kolkata with my family and had a nonsense experience at Starlight Hotel. I had booked through Oyo and paid the full hotel amount to Oyo, but when I arrived, the owner demanded 1600 per room and told me to talk to Oyo otherwise. When Oyo staff wanted to speak to the owner, he immediately left the hotel. I was disappointed by the behavior of the owner and staff. Be careful about confusion between ola and hotels, and don’t go to places like this.
