OYO Flagship 13524 Swapan Guest House

The guesthouse is in a good spot, very close to the Salt Lake Sector 5 metro, but the rooms were dirty and full of cockroaches and mosquitoes. The common room wasn’t worth using. The manager lists the place on OYO but doesn’t accept the OYO price, and even after you book, won’t let you stay unless you pay extra. That’s harassment of the customer. If there’s an issue with the company, the manager should sort it out with them.

OYO failed to tell Booking dot com that this place only accepts Indian nationals, and I was stranded that night. While stuck in this mosquito-infested hovel trying to get help from useless Booking customer service, I saw some of the rooms and the kitchen. Trust me, you don’t want to stay here. The pictures from OYO look nothing like the reality, like two different properties. It isn’t even marked as a hotel outside, which was my first clue something was wrong. If this is any kind of "flagship," the rest of the fleet must have sunk to the ocean floor long ago!

The location is perfect if you plan to use public transport, but it’s far from what OYO described. We paid a small extra charge for breakfast, yet there was no breakfast service. The OYO rate wasn’t honored either, and even though we’d confirmed a 9 AM arrival, we had to wait until 12 PM.

They didn’t even have a ceiling fan, just the head of a dirty table fan hanging from the ceiling. The room was filthy, with small insects and cockroaches on the bed that bit us. We got rashes soon after using the blanket, which had no cover. They hadn’t changed the bed or pillow covers after the previous guest, so we ended up cleaning the bed ourselves at midnight and got no sleep. My younger brother and I were there for educational purposes, but staff kept trying to prove we were a couple and asking personal, irrelevant, humiliating questions. They asked whether we’d stay for one or two hours or overnight, even though I had booked one room for two adults for one night. The way they treated us and their insinuations were awful. They took us to OYO 3573 Abcos Guest House, CL-54, sector-2, Salt lake city instead of the OYO 13524 Swapan Guest House, CL-134, sector-2, Salt lake city that we had booked. The OYO location was wrong. They asked for 829rs when my booking was for 639rs, but after arguing they took 639rs. They wouldn’t give us keys to the room and made strange excuses. Never go here. The staff and service were awful.
