Peerless Hotel Kolkata

I had a delightful stay at Peerless Hotel Kolkata. The location was perfect, the rooms felt elegant and incredibly comfortable, and the staff went above and beyond with impeccable service. I highly recommend it!

The hotel’s central location made getting around easy, with the Metro close by, shopping nearby, and Park Street only a 5-minute drive away. There was a nostalgic feel to staying here, and it connected me to Kolkata’s charm. I spent 6 nights at Peerless Hotel Kolkata and found the food, rooms, and housekeeping better than I expected. The Front Office team was especially helpful, particularly Mr. Raj, whose pleasant manner made the stay more comfortable. I’d recommend travelers stay here at least once for the warm hospitality.

Breakfast had a brilliant range, and the evening buffet was very good too. The restaurant was good, the rooms were clean and well equipped, and the staff were really friendly. It’s a very central, well located hotel.

Aheli restaurant is the one part of the hotel that really stood out for me. The food is genuinely good and memorable, though the prices feel steep. It’s a little ironic that the best part of the experience is the dining room rather than the stay. The rooms were reasonably clean and functional, but dated and tired. Furnishings, lighting, and the general feel lack freshness, and the comfort doesn’t match what you pay. The hotel seems to rely on its legacy brand, while the interiors feel caught between an old business hotel and an average transit stay. I found the staff polite, but service was inconsistent. There were delays, follow-ups, and little proactive help, which stood out given the hotel’s premium city positioning. Dharmatala may look central and convenient when booking, but outside The Peerless Inn it felt like stepping straight into chaos. It was noisy, congested, polluted, and overwhelming for most of the day. Honking, buses, vendors, crowds, and general disorder made the area feel more like a packed transit hub than a comfortable city center. The noise seemed to seep into the room even with the windows shut, and over a few days it affected our rest, mood, and well-being. For a family holiday, especially with older relatives or anyone wanting some calm, that felt exhausting and frankly unhealthy. This didn’t work for our family vacation. The chaotic surroundings and average room comfort made it hard to relax. It might suit a short business stay or transit stop where location matters more than atmosphere, though there are better options now. I’d give it 2.5 to 3 stars at best. It survives on location and legacy rather than the experience. If you’re traveling with family and expect comfort, quiet, and value, think twice. In hindsight, I’d likely avoid booking it again.
