Ratnakar Inn

The room was good and the AC worked fine, though housekeeping service was missing. The bathroom was decent and nearly clean. There was a small, clean lift and it was working. The hotel is easy to spot from the road, not too far from Exide More. The staff were good, but could have been more polite and professional. A good place to stay.

The room was enough for what we needed, and the bed was comfortable. With the heat outside, the AC was especially welcome. The staff made us feel very welcome and were gracious, from opening the door to helping us with Uber directions and making sure we had fresh water, soap, and towels. I'd recommend the hotel and would happily stay again.

I booked rooms 201 and 202 at FabHotel Ratnakar Inn Ballygunge for my family from 24th feb to 27th feb. There were problems throughout the stay, from the rooms and bathroom to breakfast and the shared areas. The rooms smelled because they hadn't used freshener after servicing. One power socket was badly misaligned, making it difficult to plug anything in. In the bathroom, a tap leaked and wasted water, the toilet seat was broken, and there was no soap dish or toilet freshener. The complimentary drinking water wasn't explained, including how much was included. Breakfast was said to be complimentary under FabHotel Ratnakar Inn Ballygunge's terms, but the portions were tiny: two very thin parathas per person. When we asked for more, staff said, "Ye esa hi hai" and "complain kr do," and suggested extra food would cost a lot. Tea was part of breakfast but we had to ask for it. We couldn't tell whether milk was included. The serving bowls were mismatched, in white, red, and other colors, and looked borrowed from neighbors. There weren't enough drinking glasses either. With five of us, we asked for more and were told they had only two juice glasses and two water glasses in the dining area, and would have to take them from the rooms. Staff said, "Fab hotel group ne nahi diya," "Ye esa hi hai," and again, "complain kr do." The restaurant toilet was dirty and smelled bad. There was no hand wash by the basin, the dining area lacked enough light, and staff used it for personal purposes. Bedsheets, towels, and other covers were left lying there. The RO water tasted very hard, so it seemed the filter wasn't being maintained. Those same replies came up repeatedly from staff and the female receptionist: "Ye esa hi hai," "complain kr do," and "Fab hotel group ne nahi diya." Staff openly encouraged us to complain on FabHotel's feedback site, so I'm doing that here. These problems are damaging the Fab Hotel group name. Checkout was at 11.00 am, and my flight was after lunch. I sat in the visitor area for half an hour after checkout, then the female receptionist said I had to place an order because I'd already been there for half an hour. She said the owner was making her ask. That felt very cheap.

The room felt very cramped, although the service was nice. The hotel is average but very economical, and its location is decent, with most tourist spots within 5km. Breakfast was included, but there were no non-vegetarian choices at all, not even eggs.
